The last door

Experimental Short Story Series #60
Title: “The Last Door: A Farewell to Shadows”
By Faraz Parvez (Pen name of Professor Dr. Arshad Afzal, Former Faculty, Umm Al Qura University, Makkah, KSA)

In a quiet corridor of memory and dream, a final door stands waiting.

It is unlike the others—crafted not of wood or metal or ink, but of all the stories we’ve told. Sixty tales of ghosts and glass, of paper cities and whispered clocks, of forgotten gods and cursed mirrors, of boys who vanished, girls who remembered too much, and choices that rewrote the sky.

This, dear reader, is the sixtieth.

The Last Door opens onto a mirror world—one that reflects not just the writer’s mind, but yours. Every tale you lingered over, every twist you didn’t expect, every shadow that followed you long after the final line—that was part of the world we built together.

And now, this chapter closes.

Why We Told These Stories

What began as an experimental challenge—a promise to craft 60 strange, surreal, and soul-stirring short stories—grew into a movement. This series wasn’t just writing. It became a ritual. A gathering place for dreamers, writers, readers, and wanderers. Each tale an invitation to step through a narrative door into the unfamiliar.

We’ve written in genres that bent reality—speculative fiction, magical realism, surreal horror, poetic absurdism. We shaped stories out of fog and flame and silence.

And now, as we reach this milestone, we pause to breathe, to bow, and to say:

Thank you.

Your support, your eyes, your wonder—it made this possible.

What Comes Next

This is not an end. It’s an evolution.

A curated, expanded print and digital collection of the entire 60-story series is in the works. Each story will be refined, paired with bespoke artwork, and offered to the world in its most complete form. A book not just of fiction, but of feeling—a collector’s piece for every lover of experimental storytelling.

And soon…

We begin again.

A new short story series will launch—this time exploring mystery, noir, and psychological fiction. Still poetic. Still unusual. Still written with love. But with a new voice, new rules, and new doors to open.

Stay with us. Keep visiting.

The blog lives. The stories will keep coming.

Because stories don’t end when the words stop. They linger, shift, become.

And somewhere… in a forgotten hallway of your own, you might just find a door.

Read, Reflect, Return.

We’ll be waiting.
